Dont Forget The Workers

Scandale Beck Pipe Crossing (Sweden Bridge area) Nr Ambleside
Grid Ref : NY 37589 05611

A hut which was probably built for the workman to shelter and store equipment in - still in robust form ie i couldnt get in

Rydal Beck Crossing , Near Rydal, NY 36535 06977

This one roomed hut just above the aqueduct bridge
with the remains of an old stove and coat pegs on a wall was built for workman to shelter in.On the other hand it may not have, though it seems to be of the right age - and why else have a one roomed hut there

Nicky Nook - Scorton, Lancs SD 52359 48371

This hut we think may be associated with the Thirlmere scheme - not as old perhaps as the Scandale one above. The pipes outside we cannot be sure of, given the proximity of other reservoirs close by. I am not sure they are big enough. The pipes are metal but the interior has thin concete lining, which i am not sure the original thirlmere ones had.

Scorton fell nearby has two siting pillars on it and another larger one visible across the valley- not marked on the OS maps of either scale
